Maroondah City Council recognised the value and work of volunteers within the City with the unveiling of a sundial at the City Offices on International Volunteers Day 2001.
Council ran community arts workshops to involve the volunteers in the making of the sundial. Volunteers hand-painted ceramic tiles, which were then placed around the base of the sundial, resulting in a very bright and creative reminder of our volunteers’ contribution to Maroondah.
The sundial project will permanently commemorate the International Year of Volunteers and the contribution made by volunteers to the City of Maroondah.
